NOTES
One week after the Ryder Cup, the best field in golf can still be found in Europe. Three major champions -- Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell and Louis Oosthuizen -- will lead the players at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, which uses a multi-course rotation on three of the best tracks in the world. Kaymer and McDowell -- the PGA and U.S. Open champion, respectively -- were part of Europe`s Ryder Cup win Monday over the Americans. Many of their teammates are also scheduled to play in Scotland, including Lee Westwood, the new world No. 2 who is expected to run down top-ranked Tiger Woods before the month of October is done. The other European Ryder Cuppers in the field are Ross Fisher, Peter Hanson, Padraig Harrington, Rory McIlroy and Edoardo and Francesco Molinari. Top players such as Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and Robert Karlsson are also expected. Last year`s tournament was won by Simon Dyson, who beat Oliver Wilson and McIlroy by three shots. Golf Channel will have coverage of all four rounds beginning at 8:30 a.m. (et) the first three days and an hour earlier on Sunday. Next week is the Portugal Masters, which was won by Lee Westwood last year.
