Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Latavius Murray rushed for 233 yards and two
touchdowns to lead the UCF Knights to a 31-14 victory over the Texas-El Paso
Miners in a Conference-USA bout at Bright House Network Stadium.
Blake Bortles also scored a rushing touchdown for UCF (5-7, 3-5 C-USA), but the
quarterback also threw for 158 yards and another touchdown.
Nick Lamaison threw for 190 yards and one touchdown for UTEP (5-7, 2-6), but he
was also intercepted once and sacked three times. Joe Banyard rumbled for 51
yards and a score in the loss.
The Knights took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter, thanks to a 38-yard
touchdown run by Murray early in the opening frame.
UCF dominated the second stanza, beginning with a one-yard touchdown by
Bortles. Nick Cattoi's field goal pushed UCF's lead to 17-0 and a six-yard
touchdown pass from Bortles to Murray gave the Knights a 24-0 halftime lead.
Murray continued his success in the third quarter, as UCF's tail back broke
free for a 40-yard touchdown run.
Texas-El Paso finally got on the board early in the fourth quarter when
Lamaison hit Jordan Leslie with a two-yard touchdown pass. The Miners try to
claw their way back into the game, as Banyard scored on a seven-yard run late
in the matchup. However, it was too late, as the Knights held on for the
