Trailing by four points with just over a minute to play, Davis drove his team down the field and connected with Jones on a 33-yard strike on the final play of the game for the win.

The game was a see-saw contest throughout the first three quarters and the story didn't change in the final 15 minutes.

Trailing by five points, East Carolina went ahead on a two-yard touchdown run from Davis for a 31-29 lead 1 1/2 minutes into the final quarter, but Tulsa answered 29 seconds later on a 75-yard touchdown catch by Willie Carter and a successful two-point conversion to make it a 35-31 game.

Just over two minutes later, the Pirates went back on top as Davis tossed a 34-yard touchdown to Harris for a 45-42 lead with 6:05 to play.

The Golden Hurricane, though, grabbed the lead back with 1:22 to play as Kinne and Clay got together for a three-yard score for a 49-45 advantage.

The Pirates got on the board first as Jonathan Williams carried the ball to paydirt from 37 yards out for a 7-0 lead just over 3 1/2 minutes into the contest.

Tulsa answered later in the quarter as Alex Singleton punched the ball into the end zone from a yard out with 5 1/2 minutes left in the frame.

A 39-yard field goal from Michael Barbour gave East Carolina a 10-7 lead after 15 minutes of play.

The Golden Hurricane had a Kevin Fitzpatrick field goal attempt blocked early in the second, but the team took the lead later in the frame on a Damaris Johnson 31-yard touchdown run. The team opted for a two-point conversion attempt, but it failed and it was a 13-10 contest.

The Pirates, though, answered on their ensuing possession as a nine-play, 64- yard drive was capped on a 30-yard touchdown catch by Lewis from Davis for a 17-13 lead with 4:30 left in the second.

Tulsa made it a one-point game before the end of the half as Fitzpatrick connected on a 22-yard field goal.
