NCAA Game Summary - Ohio at Kent State

(Friday, November 26th)

Final Score: Kent State 28, Ohio 6

Kent, OH (Sports Network) - Eugene Jarvis ran for 106 yards and a score on 21 carries, as Kent State dominated Ohio, 28-6, at Dix Stadium in head coach Doug Martin's final game with the school.

Spencer Keith went 11-for-19 passing with 100 yards and added a rushing touchdown, while Andre Flowers also scored on the ground for the Golden Flashes (5-7, 4-4 MAC), who ended their season by snapping a three-game losing streak.

Martin announced his resignation earlier this week, effective at the end of this game. He finished his career with Kent State 29-53 in nine seasons. His best record at the school came in 2006, when the Golden Flashes went 6-6.

Boo Jackson was 14-for-26 for 133 yards and two interceptions for the Bobcats (8-4, 6-2), who needed to win the game in order to advance to the conference championship game but instead saw their seven-game winning streak and regular season come to an end.

Kent State jumped on top with just over five minutes to play in the first as Luke Batton jumped on a fumble in the end zone for a 7-0 lead.

Keith extended that lead to 14-0 with 8:54 left in the second on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Ohio, though, got on the board with 2:19 to play in the second on a 51-yard field goal from Matt Weller.

Weller added a 21-yard field goal less than five minutes into the third to make it a 14-6 game.

Jarvis increased Kent State's lead on a 26-yard field with 11:53 to play, and Flowers sealed the win with just under five minutes left on his 10-yard scamper to make it a 28-6 contest.
