Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Keith Wenning threw for 174 yards and a
touchdown as the Ball State Cardinals downed the Buffalo Bulls, 20-3, in a
Mid-American Conference game at UB Stadium.
Wenning was 18-of-26 through the air for Ball State (4-7, 3-4 MAC). Eric
Williams rushed for 109 yards on 27 carries in the victory.
Jerry Davis was just 5-of-16 through the air for the Bulls (2-8, 1-5), who
accumulated only 144 yards in total offense. Davis was intercepted twice.
Buffalo opened the scoring on A.J. Principe's 49-yard field goal with three
minutes left in the first quarter.
Ball State took the lead when Wenning found Otis Brown with a 32-yard
touchdown pass on the first play of the second quarter. Ian McGarvey's 40-
yard field goal extended the Cardinals' lead to 10-3 with a minute-and-a-half
left before halftime.
The Cardinals scored off a turnover in the opening seconds of the third
quarter when Sean Baker returned a Buffalo fumble 26 yards for a score.
McGarvey added a 32-yard field goal with :43 left in the third period.
Ball State accumulated 323 yards in total offense.
Buffalo averaged just 2.7 yards per offensive snap.
