Oxford, OH (Sports Network) - Tyler Sheehan completed 21-of-33 passes for 199
yards and three touchdowns, as the Bowling Green Falcons used a strong second
half to take down the Miami-Ohio RedHawks, 35-14.
Freddie Barnes caught 10 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns for the
Falcons (5-5, 4-2 MAC), who have won two in a row and four of five. Barnes
also rushed for 25 yards and a score on three carries. Willie Geter hauled in
four passes for 33 yards and a score, while Chris Bullock carried the ball 11
times for 82 yards and a TD for the victors.
Zac Dysert connected on 29-of-48 passes for 259 yards and was intercepted
three times for the RedHawks (1-10, 1-6), who were coming off a 34-32 loss to
Temple on November 5. Dysert, who was also sacked six times, rushed for a pair
of TDs. Jamal Rogers hauled in eight passes for 81 yards, and Andre Bratton
rushed for 31 yards on four carries in defeat.
The Falcons started at the RedHawks 20 after forcing a fumble on the opening
kickoff. On the second play, Barnes rushed into the end zone from 19 yards out
to make it 7-0. Following a series of punts, Dysert's two-yard TD run capped a
13-play, 89-yard drive to even the game with 1:26 left in the first.
The first play of the second period resulted in a Dysert interception. Bowling
Green capitalized with a seven-play, 85-yard march that Barnes capped with a
59-yard touchdown catch for a 14-7 margin. Dysert's one-yard TD run with 5:08
left made it a 14-14 game.
The Falcons threatened to score before the half ended, but Barnes fumbled
near the end zone. Miami-Ohio took over and ran out the clock to keep it a tie
contest at the half.
Dysert threw a pick on the RedHawks' first possession of the third, setting
the Falcons up at the Miami-Ohio 17. On the fourth play, Barnes caught a two-
yard TD pass to make it 21-14. Matthew Norsic's 34-yard field goal was blocked
on the next Bowling Green possession, but Geter's 20-yard TD catch made it
28-14 with 1:20 remaining in the third stanza.
Bullock's 13-yard rushing touchdown with 2:06 left in the fourth accounted for
the final margin.
