NCAA Game Summary - Tulane at Rice

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Nick Fanuzzi threw for 218 yards and four touchdowns to power the Rice Owls to a 28-20 victory over the Tulane Green Wave in a Conference USA battle.

Toren Dixon made seven catches for 158 yards and three touchdowns in the win for Rice (1-9, 1-5).

Ryan Griffin finished with 261 passing yards and three touchdowns in the loss for Tulane (3-7, 1-5).

Tulane dominated the first quarter, as a pair of touchdown passes from Griffin to Jeremy Williams gave the Green Wave a 14-0 advantage.

Rice cut its deficit to 14-7 in the second quarter with a 32-yard touchdown pass from Fanuzzi to Dixon.

The Owls remained hot in the third quarter, as two more Fanuzzi touchdown strikes made the score 21-14 in favor of Rice. The first pass covered 70 yards to Dixon, and the second was a 17-yard strike to Pierre Beasley.

Tulane appeared to have tied the game with 13:11 remaining in the fourth quarter, as Griffin threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Casey Robottom. Unfortunately, a two-point conversion attempt failed, allowing Rice to cling to a 21-20 lead.

The Owls sealed their victory in the final minute of the contest, as Fanuzzi tossed a 29-yard touchdown pass to Dixon to bring the score to its final of 28-20.
