College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Jerrod Johnson threw for 234 yards and
three touchdowns and ran for another score as the Texas A&M Aggies downed the
Iowa State Cyclones, 35-10, in a Big 12 game at Kyle Field.
Johnson was 23-of-28 through the air to lead the Aggies (5-3, 2-2 Big 12) to
their second straight win. Cyrus Gray ran for 119 yards for the Aggies, who
collected 501 yards of offensive.
Jerome Tiller was 18-of-27 through the air for the Cyclones (5-4, 2-3), who
saw their own two-game win streak snapped. Alexander Robinson, who entered the
week as the leading rusher in the Big 12, ran for 76 yards on 20 carries. It
was Robinson's first action in two weeks as he missed last week's game against
Nebraska with a groin injury.
Johnson gave the Aggies a 7-0 lead when he scored from a yard out with five
minutes left in the first quarter. He extended the Aggie lead to 14-0 when he
hit Jeff Fuller with a 32-yard touchdown pass four minutes later.
It became a 21-0 game when Johnson hit Gray with a seven-yard touchdown pass
late in the second period.
Grant Mahoney got Iowa State on the scoreboard with a 29-yard field goal just
Johnson extended the A&M lead to 28-3 when he found Howard Morrow with a
seven-yard scoring pass early in the fourth frame.
Tiller scored Iowa State's only touchdown of the afternoon on a four-yard run
before Christine Mitchell scored for the Aggies on a seven-yard run with just
under 10 minutes remaining in the game.
The Aggies were 10-of-13 on third-down conversions and 2-of-3 on fourth-down
