NCAA Game Summary - Ball State at Auburn

Final Score: Auburn 54, Ball State 30

Auburn, AL (Sports Network) - Chris Todd threw for 287 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Auburn Tigers to a 54-30 victory over the Ball State Cardinals in a non-conference battle at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Terrell Zachery had a big game for Auburn (4-0), as the wideout grabbed five passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Darvin Adams collected five receptions in the win and finished with 73 yards and one score. Onterio McCalebb paced the ground game for Auburn, rushing for 83 yards and one touchdown on just eight carries.

As for the Cardinals (0-4), they were paced by Kelly Page, who threw for 101 yards and one touchdown. Page also scored a rushing touchdown in the loss, but it was Eric Williams who led the ground attack with 59 yards on 11 totes.

The Cardinals opened the scoring early, as MiQuale Lewis plunged into the end zone on a two-yard run.

Auburn evened the score late in the frame when Todd hit Tommy Trott for a six- yard touchdown.

The Tigers exploded in the second quarter, scoring 16 straight points in just one minute and 27 seconds. The first score was a 46-yard pass from Todd to Zachery.

The defense got involved in the scoring, as Josh Bynes tackles Lewis in the endzone for a safety.

Seconds later McCalebb plunged into the endzone from one yard out, giving Auburn a 23-7 advantage.

Auburn's domination continued midway through the quarter, as Todd and Zachery hooked up again, this time the touchdown went for 65 yards and pushed the Tigers lead to 30-7.

The Cardinals cut their deficit to 30-10 with a 33-yard field goal by Ian McGarvey, but the Tigers responded in the final seconds of the first half with a 32-yard field goal by Wes Byrum.

Auburn's lead grew to 40-10 early in the third frame when Todd found Adams for a 26-yard touchdown pass.

A 21-yard touchdown run by Page midway through the quarter cut Ball State's deficit to 40-17.

However, Todd continued to fire away, as the signal caller connected with Mario Fannin for a 36-yard scoring strike less than two minutes later.

Early in the final frame Page connected with Zane Fakes for a one-yard touchdown pass and that was followed by a 37-yard field goal by McGarvey, cutting Ball State's deficit to 47-27.

Auburn's offense continued to shine however, as Neil Caudle broke free for a 52-yard touchdown scamper.

McGarvey added a 33-yard field goal for Ball State late in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers were just too much to handle, as Auburn went on to grab the 24- point victory.
