NCAA Game Summary - James Madison at Delaware

(Wednesday, February 12th)

Final Score: Delaware 81, James Madison 65

Newark, DE (SportsNetwork.com) - Behind another monster effort from Davon Usher, who scored a game-high 34 points, the Delaware Blue Hens easily defeated the James Madison Dukes, 81-65, in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at the Bob Carpenter Center.

This was Usher's second straight game of more than 30 points and his two-game total of 76 is tops Delaware history.

Carl Baptiste added a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Blue Hens (19-7, 11-0 CAA), who remained perfect in conference play. Their 11-0 start is tied for the best in CAA history.

For the Dukes (9-16, 4-7), Andre Nation led the way with 17 points while Yohanny Dalembert posted a double-double of his own with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Delaware was red-hot to start the game, knocking down 54.1 percent of its field goal tries, including 5-of-13 from 3-point range. The Blue Hens used a 12-3 run midway through the period to give themselves some breathing room, as they took a 51-32 lead into the break. They held James Madison to just 26.9 percent shooting from the floor, though the Dukes finished with a 16-6 advantage at the free-throw line in the first half.

After intermission, the Dukes continued struggle from the field, hitting on just 36.1 percent and missing all but one of their nine tries from beyond the arc. The Blue Hens were woeful from the floor as well, making a meager 24 percent of their field goal tries in the half, including 2-of-12 from deep, but their advantage was never in question down the stretch.

Delaware outscored James Madison from the arc, 21-9. The teams were even in the frontcourt, with the Blue Hens barely outscoring the Dukes in the paint, 33-32, and both teams finished with 43 rebounds.
