Fresno, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marvelle Harris scored a game-high 27 points as the Fresno State Bulldogs captured a 71-67 overtime victory versus the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on the final day of the Fresno State Classic at the Save Mart Center.
Alex Davis registered a double-double for the Bulldogs (6-3) with 13 points and 15 rebounds, followed by Allen Huddleston and Cezar Guerrero with 12 points apiece for the hosts.
The Lumberjacks (2-6) were paced by Max Jacobsen with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor, while Quinton Upshur posted 11 points, although he converted a mere 3-of-13 from the field, including 1-of-9 behind the 3-point line. Jordyn Martin and Gaellan Bewernick each dropped in 10 points and while the latter registered a double-double with 10 rebounds, the former added nine boards in the losing effort.
NAU opened the meeting on a 15-5 run, but the team led the Bulldogs back in and led by just two points at the break, 32-30. The Lumberjacks were limited to just 2-of-9 shooting on the perimeter through the first 20 minutes.
In the second half the visitors again had trouble beyond the arc (2-of-7), allowing Fresno State to stick around and use a pair of free throws by Harris with five seconds remaining to knot the score at 62-62.
In the extra session the teams experienced the seventh tie of the day at 67-67 with just over a minute to play, but a jumper by Guerrero with 34 seconds left put the Bulldogs ahead for good.
Northern Arizona hurt itself with only 4-of-18 shooting on the outside and a disappointing 13-of-22 showing at the free-throw line.
