Lexington, VA (Sports Network) - Stan Okoye registered a game-high 22 points to lead the Virginia Military Keydets to a 73-65 win over the William & Mary Tribe as part of the annual BracketBusters event at Cameron Hall.
Michael Sparks added 15 points in the win for VMI (13-14), which also got 12 points from Keith Gabriel.
Quinn McDowell scored 15 points to lead the way for the Tribe (5-24), while Tim Rusthoven and Brandon Britt tallied 14 points apiece. Rusthoven collected 10 rebounds as well in the loss, while Matt Rum chipped in 13 points.
The Tribe were held in check to the tune of 35.5 percent from the field during the first period of play, opening a 39-30 halftime lead for VMI.
The Keydets shot just 33.3 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes, but used a 12-of-16 performance at the foul line to help stave a late Tribe rally.
The Tribe connected on a meager 37.9 percent from the floor during the meeting, including a 4-for-22 showing from long range.
