Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Chrishawn Hopkins scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Butler Bulldogs downed the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers 63-57 in Horizon League action at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Khyle Marshall and Andrew Smith scored 12 points each for the Bulldogs (16-12, 10-6 HL) who have won three straight and four of their last five. Erik Fromm scored 10 points while Ronald Nored dealt out nine assists.
Ben Averkamp topped the Ramblers (6-19, 1-14) with 23 points and six rebounds but his team lost for the 12th time in its last 13 tries.
Butler was up by 13 at one point in the first half and led 36-29 at halftime. The Bulldogs were 14-of-24 from the field in the opening period, including 4- of-8 from outside the arc. Loyola was 12-of-23 from the floor in the first frame.
Both teams cooled off after halftime. Loyola tied the game at 44 with 7:52 remaining, but Butler never trailed in the game,
The Bulldogs shot 52.5 percent from the floor for the game.
