GAME NOTES: The hometown Bucknell Bison continue play in the Legends Classic today, as they entertain the West Alabama Tigers at Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Both teams will be in action again on Sunday, with West Alabama taking on Princeton, and Bucknell battling Morehead State.

West Alabama is a Division II school that calls the Gulf South Conference home, and the Tigers are 1-4 on the young season, having topped Barry in their opener, but then dropping four in a row to Lynn, Oregon State, Carver Bible and Morehead State. Friday's 61-52 setback to the Eagles in this event was the team's third away from home this year, and second on a neutral floor.

Bucknell, which sets up shop as a member of the Patriot League, improved to 3-2 on the year with a 62-56 triumph over Princeton in Friday's initial stage of the Lewisburg Subregional of this event. The Bison opened the season with back-to-back losses to Minnesota and Vanderbilt, but have won three in a row over the likes of St. Francis (PA), Marist and Princeton.

This game marks the first-ever meeting between West Alabama and Bucknell on the hardwood.

The Tigers got an impressive effort from Ryan Fitch on Friday, as the junior guard led all scorers with 20 points, but he got very little help from his teammates in what wound up as a nine-point loss to Morehead State. Darrion Booker was the only other UWA player to reach double figures, as he tallied 11 points on the strength of his 7-of-8 performance from the free-throw line. As a team, the Tigers shot just 35.1 percent from the floor, but did an admirable job at the defensive end, limiting the Eagles to 39.6 percent shooting while goading them into 16 turnovers. Unfortunately, West Alabama was guilty of 24 giveaways.

Will Muscala logged a double-double consisting of 25 points and 12 rebounds, leading Bucknell to its six-point win over Princeton on Friday. Muscala was the only Bison player to hit for double figures in the scoring column, although Joe Willman came close as he finished with a line of nine points, five rebounds and four assists. Collectively, Bucknell made good on 48.9 percent of its field goal attempts, while holding Princeton to 37.3 percent. A 16-9 edge in points from the foul line helped the cause, as did a 36-14 advantage in points in the paint.

While the Tigers are sure to forth a valiant effort, expect another monster effort from Muscala as he leads the Bison to comfortable home victory.
