Lundy out as High Point coach
High Point, NC (Sports Network) - High Point University athletic director Craig Keilitz announced Monday that men's head basketball coach Bart Lundy will not return next year after guiding the Panthers program for six seasons.
"Bart is a tremendous person that put a great deal of time and effort into our program and represented the university with class and dignity," said Keilitz. "I truly appreciate his dedication and commitment to bringing the High Point program to a competitive Division I level. This was an extremely difficult decision and one that was made after a great deal of thought and consideration. In every decision, we always strive to put the best interests of our student-athletes first."
The Panthers posted a dismal 9-21 mark this season and finished at the bottom of the Big South Conference standings in a tie with Charleston Southern (4-14).
Lundy posted a 96-87 record during his time at High Point and led the program to the Big South title game in 2004.
Prior to his stint with the Panthers, Lundy spent five years as the bench boss at Queens University in Charlotte. He is 211-128 in his 11 seasons as a head coach.
