Mount Pleasant, MI (Sports Network) - Marcus Van scored 16 points and hauled in seven caroms to guide the Central Michigan Chippewas over the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights, 68-62, in a BracketBuster matchup at the Rose Arena.
Jordan Bitzer tallied 14 points for CMU (9-16), which came out on top in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Robbie Harman posted 13 points and five assists, and Jacolby Hardiman had 10 points and eight boards in the win.
Cameron Tyler led the way for FDU (7-21) with a game-high 21 points, although he also accounted for 11 turnovers. Terence Grier turned in 15 points and nine boards, while John Galvin posted 11 points and six rebounds in the setback.
After a 23-23 halftime tie, the Chippewas shot 52.0 percent from the floor and made 16 free throws over the final 20 minutes for the six-point win.
FDU was guilty of a whopping 22 turnovers and those miscues directly resulted in 27 points for CMU.
