Bobrovsky's first shutout leads Jackets over Wings

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Sergei Bobrovsky earned his first NHL shutout with a 30-save performance as Columbus shut down Detroit, 3-0, at Nationwide Arena.

Cam Atkinson, Jack Johnson and Nick Foligno provided the offense for the Blue Jackets, who finished their homestand a perfect 4-0-0 and close out this home- and-home series in Detroit on Sunday.

Jonas Gustavsson stopped 21 pucks in defeat for the Red Wings, who had won five of seven coming in.

Atkinson's third goal of the season put the hosts on the board with 6:14 remaining in the opening period. Matt Calvert stripped a Red Wings defender to the right of the Detroit net and fed the puck in front to the Boston College product for the easy score.

Johnson's blast from the bottom of the right circle on a power play with 5:12 elapsed in the second doubled the hosts' edge, and it was 3-0 at 6:35 when Foligno lit the lamp from the edge of the crease.

Gustavsson was also tested in the third as the Blue Jackets swarmed on all sides of his crease. He managed to contort his body to stop two stuffer attempts roughly seven minutes apart, but his offense failed to buttress the effort.

Bobrovsky made 11 stops in the first, six in the second and finished with 13 more saves in the third.
