Santos holds off Queretaro
Mexico City, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - Carlos Quintero scored two goals and Santos held off a late rally from Queretaro to claim a 3-2 away win in the first leg of their Liga MX quarterfinal on Sunday.
Quintero scored the lone goal in the first half after 15 minutes, and he doubled his total in the 51st.
Alonso Escoboza made it 3-0 to Santos with 20 minutes to play, and it looked like Santos was well on its way to a comfortable win.
But Isaac Romo gave the home side a bit of hope by scoring two goals in the span of two minutes to give the team a chance in the second leg at Santos on Dec. 1.
America and Tigres played to a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their matchup as Aquivaldo Mosquera scored the equalizer in the 89th minute for America, which will host the second leg next Sunday.
Toluca took firm control of its quarterfinal on Saturday by securing a 3-0 win at home over Cruz Azul, while Morelia came from 3-1 down in the second half to earn a 3-3 draw against Leon thanks to a pair of goals from Ever Guzman in the final 20 minutes.
