Alaba inks new Bayern contract
Munich, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayern Munich's David Alaba put pen to paper on Monday on a new deal that ties him to the club until 2018.
The 21-year-old had 18 months remaining on his previous contract, but the club has decided to extend his stay in a move that pleases Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
"David joined us as a 16-year old and developed really well here. Today, he is among the best and most successful fullbacks in Europe," Rummenigge told the club's website.
Since breaking into the first team during the 2011-12 season, Alaba has scored six goals in 71 league appearances.
"I got here in 2008, and this has been my club for a long time," Alaba said. "I am delighted the paperwork is finally done, and that I'll be playing for Bayern until 2018 at least."
