Falcao suffers ACL injury
Fontvieille, Monaco (SportsNetwork.com) - Colombia striker Radamel Falcao will undergo surgery to repair a torn left anterior cruciate ligament, AS Monaco confirmed Thursday.
Falcao sustained the injury in Monaco's 3-0 win at Monts d'Or Azergues in Coupe de France action on Wednesday. Jose Carlos Noronha, the specialist treating Falcao, has told the 27-year-old that he can expect to be out of action for six months, effectively ending the striker's World Cup hopes.
"Following Wednesday's injury, Radamel Falcao made a diagnostic examination. It appears that the player is suffering from trauma in the left knee with lesion of ligament anterior cruciate," AS Monaco said in a statement Thursday. "The player will have surgery in next few days. Doctors will do everything possible to speed up recovery."
