Toprak signs Leverkusen extension
Leverkusen, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayer Leverkusen defender Omer Toprak signed a two-year contract extension on Wednesday that ties him to the club until 2018.
Toprak's deal was initially set to expire in June 2016, but the club was eager to lock up the 24-year-old, who has been able to secure a place in the first team since his arrival from Freiburg in 2011.
"I am delighted to have signed this deal," Toprak told the club's official website. "We have a strong side who can achieve their ambitions - that's why signing the contract was such an easy decision."
The Turkey international has started 14 of 17 games for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga with the team sitting in second place, seven points back of leaders Bayern Munich.
