Podolski sidelined by hamstring problem

London, England (Sports Network) - Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has been ruled out for the next three weeks because of a hamstring injury, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

Podolski was taken off the field in the second half of the Gunners' 2-0 Champions League qualifying victory over Fenerbahce on Tuesday, and the injury will force him to miss Sunday's London derby with Tottenham as well as a league encounter at Sunderland on Sept. 14.

The Germany international will also miss World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Faroe Islands for his country next month, while facing a race to be fit in time for Arsenal's match with Stoke City on Sept. 22.

Podolski has scored two goals in two league matches this season for Arsenal, which has earned three points from its first two games.
