Busquets signs new Barca deal
Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new contract with the Catalan side that runs until June 2018.
The 25-year-old had agreed to a new deal in July, but it became official on Wednesday and includes a release clause of $200 million.
"I am very happy to stay at the best team in the world, which is also my lifelong club," Busquets said.
"My objectives are to keep improving day to day. I do not know if I am a reference for the cantera [academy], but that is what I try to be, to work for the team, so that the fans are happy with me. The truth is that I cannot complain about how things are going for me."
Busquets made his debut with the senior team in September 2008 and has gone on to make 238 appearances for the club, winning two Champions League titles, four La Liga crowns, the Copa del Rey twice and two Club World Cups.
