Cruzeiro runs winning streak to seven games

Sao Paulo, Brazil (Sports Network) - Cruzeiro won its seventh consecutive match on Saturday, securing a 1-0 win over Atletico PR behind Nilton's 35th- minute goal.

Cruzeiro remains four points clear at the top of the league with the win, while Atletico stays in fourth place but falls 11 points off the pace.

Atletico was unable to generate much in attack and yielded the lone goal of the contest from a corner kick as Willian delivered the cross and Nilton redirected the ball past the goalkeeper from near the penalty spot.

Ricardo Goulart almost doubled the lead in the 71st for Cruzeiro, but his shot from 10 yards struck the post, although Cruzeiro was able to see off the rest of the match without too much trouble.

Botafogo kept pace with a 2-1 win at Santos behind a pair of goals from Elias, while third-place Gremio sustained a 1-0 home defeat against Atletico Mineiro after Fernando's 61st-minute goal.

Fluminense scored twice in the second half of a 2-1 comeback win over Portuguesa as Wagner scored the winning goal in the 71st minute, 10-man Flamengo salvaged a 1-1 draw at Ponte Preta with a goal in the 86th minute from Andre Santos, Amaral scored seven minutes from time to help Goias to a 2-1 win at Corinthians, Coritiba came from two goals down in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw with Bahia, Rodrigo Caio and Antonio Carlos scored in a 2-0 Sao Paulo victory at Vasco da Gama, Internacional edged Criciuma, 1-0 and Dinei's brace helped Vitoria to a 2-1 win over Nautico.
