Red Wings' Helm taken to hospital
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Detroit Red Wings forward Darren Helm has been taken to the hospital after leaving in the first period against Nashville in a 3-2 loss in Game 1 of a Western Conference quarterfinal series.
While killing a penalty in the first period, Helm threw off his glove and skated off the ice before heading to the locker room after a collision with Nashville's Alexander Radulov.
Detroit later announced on its Twitter account that Helm was taken to a hospital and that the injury was to his wrist.
Helm had missed the final 10 games of the season with a sprain to his medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
