Nash nets winner to send Rangers past Sabres

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Rick Nash's goal with 1:42 left to play closed out the New York Rangers' regular-season home schedule on a positive note, lifting the Blueshirts to a 2-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres at Madison Square Garden.

Nash's one-timer off a Martin St. Louis feed kept the playoff-bound Rangers in second place in the Metropolitan Division heading into Saturday's finale at Montreal. New York entered the night two points in front of Philadelphia and Columbus, though both those teams still own a game in hand.

Henrik Lundqvist did his part by stopping 23-of-24 shots and Benoit Pouliot also scored to help the Rangers overcome a 1-0 deficit late in the second period.

Drew Stafford accounted for Buffalo's lone goal, with Matt Hackett coming up with 28 saves in the lowly Sabres' fifth consecutive loss.
