Description: The Redskins released running back Tim Hightower Friday.
Insight: Hightower was listed No. 1 on the depth chart at the start of training camp but he never was able to get healthy coming off surgery to repair a torn ACL last season. This eliminates one of the four players fighting for carries with Washington, but the role of lead back in Week 1 is still up in the air.

Description: According to the Washington Examiner, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said "I really don't know yet," when asked about the Week 1 availability of running backs Roy Helu and Tim Hightower.
Insight: Drafting a Redskins running back is a good way to drive yourself mad this season. Hightower is listed as the No. 1 back on the depth chart but Evan Royster, Helu and a player not even on the roster right now are just as likely to see starts in Shanahan's funhouse.

Description: According to the Washington Post, Redskins running back Tim Hightower (ACL) joined 11-on-11 drills Thursday for the first time this training camp.
Insight: Hightower is listed as the No. 1 running back on the depth chart, but we don't think he'll finish the season there. Remember, Hightower started out last season as the team's featured back, carrying the ball 25 times in Week 1 and 20 times in Week 2, but he fell out of favor quickly prior to tearing his ACL. The veteran has proven to be solid in several areas but he doesn't possess any spectacular skills.

Description: According to beat writer Rich Campbell, Redskins running back Tim Hightower (ACL surgery) is listed as No. 1 on the first official depth chart of the season.
Insight: Haha! Only coach Mike Shanahan could list a player who hasn't been able to practice and isn't close to returning as his starting running back. Evan Royster was No. 2 and Roy Helu was listed as No. 3. If you draft any of the three, you better go out and buy a "Magic Eight Ball" or bug Shanahan's office.

Description: According to a Washington Post report, Redskins running back Tim Hightower (ACL surgery) is running with a "slight hitch."
Insight: Recent reports which had Hightower as the team's starting running back are hard to believe. We prefer Roy Helu or Evan Royster over Hightower. In the end, its mute as Mike Shanahan will likely make it impossible to start any of the three backs in a fantasy lineup with his mix-and-match style of coaching.

Description: As is frequently the case in a Mike Shanahan offense, determining how the running back workload will be divided is a mystery. The choices are Hightower, Roy Helu and Evan Royster.
Insight: Most of the local media seems to believe that if Hightower is healthy (ACL), he will be the starter. I wouldn't take that to the bank. I believe the correct move is to let someone else try to get into Shanahan's head and just stay away. If forced to decide, however, I think Helu will see the most touches in 2012.

Description: The Redskins signing of Tim Hightower will further confuse fantasy owners. Washington now has a backfield which includes, Evan Royster, Roy Helu, Tristan Davis, Hightower and rookies Alfred Morris, Antwon Bailey and Lennon Creer.
Insight: Hightower is the best blocker of the group and figures to see plenty of time if his knee is healthy, but Helu and Royster are better runners and Helu is an excellent pass receiver. Knowing coach Mike Shanahan as we do, the running back depth chart will likely be a mystery all season long.

Description: The Redskins confirmed Monday that Tim Hightower has a torn left ACL and is done for the season..
Insight: Your guess is as good as mine if Ryan Torain becomes the every-down back in Washington. On the surface, it would be appear that way with Roy Helu coming in as a change of pace back. Helu and Torain are must owns in all fantasy formats.

Description: This past week we lost a Football and Movie Icon with the passing of Bubba Smith aka Hightower from Police Academy. Former Cardinal and current #1 RB on the Washington Redskin depth chart Tim Hightower will look to carry on the name. With the selection of rookie Ryan Williams and return of Beanie Wells the Cards decided to part ways with Hightower dealing him in exchange for DE Vonnie Holliday and a conditional draft pick. Pass happy head coach Mike Shanahan currently has Tim H ahead of oft injured Ryan Torain and rookie Roy Helu. Hightower is one season removed from a 63 reception campaign in 2009 which I'm sure has Shanny licking his chops. With a less than impressive WR corps led by an aging yet productive Santana Moss '" Hightower could surprise in the Skins offense if he can lick the case of fumbleitus that has reared its ugly head again in training camp. Insight: With the selection of rookie Ryan Williams and return of Beanie Wells the Cards decided to part ways with Hightower dealing him in exchange for DE Vonnie Holliday and a conditional draft pick.

Description: The Washington Post confirms that Tim Hightower will compete for the starting tailback job with the Redskins. Washington Post
Insight: Hightower is a better all-around back and is good in pass protection, but he's had fumble issues the past few seasons. He'll have the chance to compete with Ryan Torain for snaps, but he's more of a 3rd down specialist, especially on passing downs.
12/26/2010 12:02:00 AM
Description: Hightower had six carries for 23 yards and one catch for six yards against the Cowboys on Saturday night.
Insight: Chris Wells ended up with more carries than Hightower in the game, but if you're relying on a Cardinals' RB you are probably already eliminated in your league. (RapidDraft.com)
12/13/2010 11:04:00 AM
Description: Hightower had 18 carries for 148 yards and two touchdowns against Denver on Sunday.
Insight: Hightower has 33 carries over the last two games, and appears to be rendering Chris Wells useless to fantasy owners at this point. (RapidDraft.com)
12/6/2010 12:05:00 PM
Description: Hightower had 15 carries for 81 yards along with one catch for five yards against the Rams on Sunday.
Insight: Chris Wells had just three carries for 24 yards in the game, so Hightower could again see a lot of work going forward. (RapidDraft.com)
11/22/2010 11:05:00 AM
Description: Hightower had 12 carries for 62 yards and three catches for 24 yards against Kansas City on Sunday.
Insight: Chris Wells (right knee) was active, but Hightower still led the Cardinals in carries in the game. Neither player is a particularly strong fantasy option right now. (RapidDraft.com)
11/15/2010 12:01:00 PM
Description: Hightower had 13 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown and two catches for 23 yards against the Seahawks on Sunday.
Insight: With Chris Wells (right knee) banged up right now, Hightower stands to see a fairly significant workload in his absence. (RapidDraft.com)
11/12/2010 6:01:00 PM
Description: The Arizona Republic reports Hightower is expected to be the Cardinals' starting tailback in Week 10.
Insight: Chris Wells (right knee) is not healthy, but Hightower is not a strong fantasy option against Seattle on Sunday. (RapidDraft.com)
11/7/2010 2:36:00 PM
Description: Cardinals RB Tim Hightower got the start against the Vikings.
Insight: We are through almost a quarter of play and Beanie Wells has yet to touch the ball. It appears that while Wells was active, his knee may keep him out for most of the game.
11/3/2010 10:01:00 AM
Description: The Arizona Republic reports Cardinals' head coach Ken Whisenhunt said, regarding Hightower, "at the end of the day, we have to get Tim more reps."
Insight: Hightower had just two touches in Week 8, as he has clearly fallen behind Chris Wells on the Cardinals' RB depth chart. Even with a few more touches, he is not likely to be a big fantasy factor going forward. (RapidDraft.com)
11/1/2010 11:01:00 AM
Description: AZ Cardinals.com reports Cardinals' head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Hightower's lack of playing time in Week 8 was due to game flow and nothing else.
Insight: Hightower had just two touches in the game, and appears to have been passed by LaRod Stephens-Howling on the Cardinals' RB depth chart right now. (RapidDraft.com)
