Description: Lee Evans (ankle) was downgraded to a missed practice after participating in a limited fashion on Wednesday. Source: Baltimore Ravens via Twitter
Insight: Evans put in a limited practice on Wednesday and the ankle must not have responded well to the workout. We're not counting on Evans being active on Sunday, so Torrey Smith looks to be drawing the start opposite Anquan Boldin in week 6.

Description: Ravens WR Lee Evans will miss his second straight game in Week 4 vs. the Jets as he deals with a sore ankle.
Insight: Since signing in Baltimore, he's done absolutely nothing... but he did open the door for rookie WR Torrey Smith to show what he could do.

Description: Baltimore Ravens WR Lee Evans did not participate in practice Saturday and was on the sidelines with a walking boot on his left foot. SOURCE: BALTIMORE SUN
Insight: This isn't good, though we really don't know much about the situation. Anytime a walking boot is being worn, it's not considered a minor injury, but again, the Ravens really aren't revealing the source of the injury. If Evans is out for an extended period of time, rookie Torrey Smith (who has been horrible this pre-season) might be asked to step up.

Description: It's a done deal. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports that the Buffalo Bills have traded wide receiver Lee Evans to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: Could this trade have been made because the Ravens don't believe in rookie Torrey Smith? After last night's game, yes. Smith looked timid and out of sync with the entire offense. His 4.3 speed never came into play as he was constantly confused. With Evans, they basically have another Derrick Mason in the fold.

Description: Veteran WR Lee Evans had the least productive season of his career in 2010, and that had nothing to do with the fact he missed three games due to injury, yet the Bills say they want him to step up and be more productive in 2011.
Insight: Evans was completely overshadowed by Steve Johnson, who had his breakout season when no one expected it. It would make complete sense if Evans was actually pushed down the depth chart with the young talent they already have, but apparently that's not the case. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick told WGR 550-AM, "I'm looking to get (Evans) way more involved in the offense this year. Some of the attention will go off him and he won't see the constant double-team."

Description: Bills HC Chan Gailey didn't sound like a guy ready to part ways with WR Lee Evans, even though Evans had a career-worst year in 2010 that ended with him on injured reserve. SOURCE: CBS SPORTS
Insight: Gailey said route-running is a key area for Evans to work on this off-season, but also admitted that he should expand Evans' route tree and give him more threatening plans all over the field. "He's been more of a deep threat," Gailey told the Buffalo News. "I've got to get him to do a better job of becoming an underneath threat. I've got to do a better job of that."

Description: Bills HC Chan Gailey said it's not "impossible" that WR Lee Evans is cut this offseason. SOURCE: BUFFALOBILLS.COM
Insight: Plagued by injuries and double teams, Evans suffered career lows in receptions (37) and yards (578). Steve Johnson staked his claim as the No. 1 receiver, which could leave Evans expendable. He is due a $1 million roster bonus, but we think a change in scenery could help him gain some fantasy value back. The talent is still there, but he has played on some pretty bad teams in his career.

Description: Evans has been placed on injured reserve because of the sprained ankle suffered in Week 14.
Insight: The move is not a surprise, since even the initial prognosis called for Evans likely missing a week or two. With three games left and Buffalo well out of contention, it would have made no sense to bring him back. (

Description: Bills WR Lee Evans is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain against the Browns. SOURCE: BUFFALO NEWS
Insight: Evans will definitely miss Week Fifteen and could possibly miss the rest of the season with the timetable for this kind of injury usually being 4-6 weeks. Expect Steve Johnson to benefit from Evans being out.
12/13/2010 11:01:00 AM
Description: Evans suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's victory that coach Chan Gailey says will keep him out for at least a game or two.
Insight: If his spotty, weak production weren't already enough to make you dump him, this should be. (
12/12/2010 4:19:00 PM
Description: Bills WR Lee Evans left Buffalo's Week 14 game vs. Cleveland with an ankle injury.
Insight: Not that it matters, but he won't return. He didn't have a catch in this game and hasn't had more than three catches in any game since Week 8.
11/15/2010 1:00:00 AM
Description: Evans caught just two passes for 52 yards in Sunday's win over Detroit.
Insight: The yardage was enough to lead the team. Let's chalk this one up to the poor weather and Buffalo finally getting to play with a lead for a while. (
10/10/2010 7:01:00 PM
Description: Evans caught 5 balls for 87 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against Jacksonville.
Insight: Buffalo had great production from their receiving corps on Sunday, which was a result of the match-up against Jacksonville's weak secondary. Evans can be considered a starter when going against weak defenses.
10/4/2010 12:04:00 AM
Description: Evans drew six targets in the loss to the Jets but came away with only one catch.
Insight: One has to feel bad for Evans, who has only known disappointment and shortcoming from his quarterbacks. He sure doesn't look good in fantasy right now. (
9/26/2010 11:05:00 PM
Description: Evans caught five passes for 54 yards in Sunday's game, a far cry from his zeros in Week 3.
Insight: The Week 4 line is certainly much better, but a fantasy starter needs to present upside beyond that. Evans doesn't right now. (
9/23/2010 10:31:00 AM
Description: According to last year's stats, WR Lee Evans caught four touchdowns and had 341 receiving yards in eight starts from QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. SOURCE: BUFFALOBILLS.COM
Insight: Not huge stats by any means, but at least Evans could gain back some of his value with Fitz under center. If you still have Evans, hold onto him for a bit longer and hope things turn around. He still isn't a starting option, however.
9/19/2010 11:00:00 PM
Description: Evans didn't catch a single pass in Week 2. According to the Gamebook, he wasn't even targeted.
Insight: Until further notice, any "insight" entry for this guy should simply read: Poor Lee Evans. The situation is killing the value his talent should present. (
9/13/2010 10:04:00 PM
Description: Evans finished the opener with an all-too-common four catches for 34 yards.
Insight: Poor Lee Evans. If only this weren't exactly the kind of game we can expect. At least his speed will produce the occasional big day. Just brace yourself for fantasy frustration. (
7/9/2010 5:40:00 PM
Description: Lee Evans is hoping for a rebirth in new coach Chan Gailey's offense.
Insight: The new system might be okay, but the quarterback play promises to be terrible and the offensive line is in shambles. Don't expect miracles here. (
1/4/2010 11:56:00 PM
Description: Evans rushed four times for 49 yards and a touchdown against the Colts on Sunday.
Insight: Evans went over 50 yards in only three games this season and can be considered a fantasy bust. (
