(Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Bucks were another in the long litany of NBA teams which switched coaches in the offseason.
Out was Jim Boylan and in was former Atlanta Hawks leader Larry Drew. He is a solid NBA coach who had a winning record at the helm of the Hawks and there is reason for optimism in Milwaukee.
The Bucks made the playoffs for the first time in three seasons. Sure, they got creamed by the Miami Heat in four games, but progress is progress.
You'd think this would be an ideal situation, brim with positive thinking.
You'd be wrong.
It's no secret point guard Brandon Jennings wanted to bolt for free agency. Recently, Monta Ellis, the Bucks' leading scorer last year, informed the team he would test the waters as he's a restricted free agent.
To further compound the woes in the backcourt, reserves J.J. Redick and Mike Dunleavy also are without contracts.
Any guard who will be available at 15 should be in play here.
Shooting guards like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope of Georgia, Russia's Sergey Karasev and Allen Crabbe of Cal make sense. So, too, do players like Miami's Shane Larkin or Germany's Dennis Schroeder. They are more traditional point guards.
