Description: If free agent outfielder/DH Johnny Damon isn't offered an invite to Spring Training, he'll likely retire, reports the Boston Globe.
Insight: If this is the last we've seen of Damon, he'll finish his career with 2,769 hits in 9,736 career at bats. He's 66th on the all-time stolen base list with 408 thefts on 511 attempts. His last All-Star appearance came with the Red Sox back in 2005.

8/9/2012 6:31:00 PM
Description: The Indians have granted outfielder Johnny Damon his release from the team. Cleveland designated Damon for assignment last Friday.
Insight: Interest in the 38-year-old (.222, 4 HR, 19 RBI) seems to be pretty limited right now and it's starting to look like Damon might not reach the 3,000-hit plateau. Right now he stands at 2,769 career hits.

8/3/2012 4:01:00 PM
Description: Cleveland outfielder Johnny Damon has been designated for assignment.
Insight: Damon (.222, 4 HRs, 19 RBIs) was unimpressive during his 64-game stint with the Indians this season. At age 38, Damon's not getting any younger. Don't count on him to be a factor in fantasy regardless of what team he eventually ends up with.

Cold8/2/2012 10:43:00 AM
Description: Indians left fielder Johnny Damon hasn't made much noise with his bat this season but look for him to break out Thursday against Kansas City. He's a .448 hitter in 29 lifetimes at bats versus lefthander Bruce Chen.
Insight: Damon (.222, 4 HRs, 19 RBIs) is one for his last 16 and Chen (7-9, 5.49 ERA) hasn't won a game for the Royals since June 26, so something has to give here. We're guessing Damon comes out on top in this matchup.

7/29/2012 11:40:00 AM
Description: Cleveland left fielder Johnny Damon has never quite mastered the delicate art of hitting against Brian Duensing. In fact, he's failed miserably. Damon is only a .167 career hitter versus the Twins lefthander.
Insight: Sunday is not the day to start Damon (.226, 4 HRs, 18 RBIs).

7/26/2012 6:55:00 PM
Description: Cleveland left fielder Johnny Damon is not in the starting lineup Thursday night against Detroit.
Insight: Shelley Duncan (.225, 9 HRs, 24 RBIs) is starting in left field tonight for the Indians.

7/13/2012 10:35:00 AM
Description: Indians outfielder Johnny Damon is a stunning .522 hitter (12-for-23) against Toronto lefty Ricky Romero with four homers and eight RBI.
Insight: Damon has done very little to warrant fantasy attention (.215, 4 HR, 17 RBI, .628 OPS), but he starts the second half with a hugely favorable matchup.

6/20/2012 11:09:00 AM
Description: Indians outfielder Johnny Damon is questionable for Wednesday's game against Cincinnati with a sore back.
Insight: His late arrival to the party, he didn't join the Indians until May after signing late, hasn't proven to be beneficial to Cleveland or fantasy owners. He's batting just .190 with a .563 OPS in 37 games.

6/6/2012 12:00:00 PM
Description: Indians outfielder Johnny Damon is expected to be activated from the paternity leave list for Wednesday's game against Detroit.
Insight: Before leaving he was 4-for-10, so perhaps Damon has finally knocked the rust off. For the season he is batting .180 with one homer and 5 RBI in 89 at bats.

6/3/2012 3:45:00 PM
Description: Indians outfielder Johnny Damon is on paternity leave.
Insight: Damon's wife gave birth on Friday and now he's expected to be out of the lineup until Wednesday's game against Detroit. Damon is batting .180 with 1 HR and 5 RBIs in 89 at bats this season.

5/30/2012 9:13:00 AM
Description: Cleveland outfielder Johnny Damon is a career .464 hitter (13-for-28) versus Royals starter Bruce Chen with a 1.302 OPS.
Insight: Apparently the lefty-lefty matchup doesn't bother Damon. Damon is batting just .152 this season, but the sight of Chen might get him going.

5/27/2012 7:58:00 PM
Description: It took 73 at bats but Johnny Damon has finally homered in 2012. He belted a three-run homer off of Gavin Floyd in the second inning of Cleveland's 12-6 loss to the White Sox.
Insight: It's good to see that Damon (.158 average in 76 at bats this year) still has a little pop left in his bat at age 38 but he's still a long way away from becoming fantasy relevant. The home run was his only hit of the afternoon.

5/16/2012 9:29:00 AM
Description: Not many batters can claim to be a career .500 batter against Seattle ace Felix Hernandez, but Johnny Damon can. He's 11-for-22 with a 1.378 OPS.
Insight: Damon is off to a slow start, batting just .159 after his second consecutive 0-for-3 night on Tuesday. He's just 11 games into the season after signing with the Indians on April 17 and may still be behind the curve. Give him some time before making a decision on whether he can be of value this season.

5/3/2012 5:42:00 PM
Description: Johnny Damon, will be the Indians' designated hitter Thursday night when they take on the White Sox. Damon exited the game Wednesday in his season debut because of cramps.
Insight: It's not a good sign that Damon is already experiencing this kind of fatigue after just one game. Remember, he's turning 39 in November. If Damon isn't healthy enough to play in the outfield on a consistent basis, he could have trouble earning playing time because Travis Hafner usually gets most of the reps at DH.

5/2/2012 4:04:00 PM
Description: Johnny Damon will start in left field and leadoff on Wednesday night for his new team, the Cleveland Indians.
Insight: Expect Damon to be close to his 2012 numbers of .261, 16 HRs, 73 RBIs and 19 stolen bases when all is said and done.

4/12/2012 1:44:00 PM
Description: Johnny Damon appears to be on the verge of signing a one-year deal with the Indians, where he is expected to take over as the team's starting leftfielder. The signing will become official after Damon passes his physical.
Insight: The 38-year-old has finally found a home in Cleveland. Expect Damon to be close to his 2012 numbers of .261, 16 HRs, 73 RBIs and 19 stolen bases when he finally suits up for the Indians.

4/2/2012 8:57:00 PM
Description: Johnny Damon is hoping to sign with a major league team by May 1st.
Insight: It's surprising that Damon is still available at this point. He was fairly productive for Tampa Bay last season (.261, 16 HRs, 73 RBIs, 19 SBs). Damon is mostly thought of as a designated hitter at this point in his career, which could be the reason why he's had trouble finding a job. His lack of position eligibility could hinder his fantasy value as well.

4/18/2011 3:02:00 PM
Description: Rays DH Johnny Damon was out of Monday night's lineup against the White Sox because of an injured left hand. Damon had a splint on the finger Monday, and hopes to be able to grip a bat in the next day or two. He hasn't ruled out playing later this week. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: Damon is a very risky play this week if you set your lineup with him in it. If he can't make it back by the end of this week the Rays could consider placing him on the DL.
