Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn dominated Milwaukee over seven scoreless innings Monday.
Insight: Lynn struck out 11 and allowed just three hits. He's 3-0 in three starts even though Monday was his first quality start of the season.

Description: Cardinals manager Mike Matheny will start Lance Lynn in Game 4 of the World Series Sunday.
Insight: If the team was facing a 3-0 hole Matheny liked would have used Adam Wainwright on short rest, but since it won Game 2 he'll go with Lynn. After allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings in Game 2 of the NLDS versus Pittsburgh, Lynn started Game 4 of the NLCS against the Dodgers and allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings. Meanwhile, rookie Shelby Miller has thrown a total of 4 1/3 innings this postseason.

10/12/2013 3:40:00 PM
Description: Cardinals manager Mike Matheny will stick with Lance Lynn to start Game 4 of the NLCS.
Insight: Lynn gave up five runs over 4 1/3 innings in his only start of the NLDS, but that won't deter Matheny from using Lynn over Shelby Miller. Miller will remain in the bullpen.

Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn made his case why he should be in the postseason rotation with six scoreless innings, nine strikeouts and zero walks Friday in a win over the Cubs.
Insight: Lynn's 2013 season has followed a near-identical pattern to last year -- he started off strong, winning a bunch of games early, struggled in July and August and had a dynamite September. After going 2-1 with a 2.12 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings this month, Lynn will finish 15-10 with a 3.97 ERA and 198 Ks in 201 2/3 frames. St. Louis has plenty of strong choices to fill its rotation for the playoffs after Adam Wainwright, including Lynn, Michael Wacha, Shelby Miller and Joe Kelly.

9/21/2013 10:56:00 PM
Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn threw his third straight quality start Saturday against the Brewers and picked up his first win since Aug. 4.
Insight: Lynn gave up one run and struck out seven over 6 1/3 innings Saturday and has allowed three earned runs in 18 1/3 innings over his last three starts. Lynn went 0-5 with a 6.88 ERA from Aug. 9 to Sept. 5 before his string of three straight quality turns.

9/12/2013 11:19:00 AM
Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn turned in his best start in five weeks Wednesday against the Brewers, throwing six innings, striking out 10 and allowing one (unearned) run.
Insight: Lynn came in 0-5 with a 6.88 ERA over his previous six starts and 3-9 with a 5.40 ERA since starting out 10-1 with a 3.42. He'll attempt to duplicate September 2012, in which he went 5-2 with a 2.76 ERA after struggling following the All-Star break and getting demoted the bullpen for a few weeks.

Cold8/31/2013 10:00:00 PM
Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn has to be happy to see August go. He went 1-4 with a 5.84 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP during the month.
Insight: Lynn was 10-1 with a 3.42 ERA at one point, but he has gone 3-8 with a 5.29 ERA over his last 13 starts and now has a 4.29 ERA on the year. Lynn had a similar issue last season, starting off 10-2 with a 2.42 ERA and then going 3-3 with a 5.89 ERA over his next 12 starts before being demoted to the bullpen. We'll see if the Cardinals plan to keep rolling him out this year.

8/4/2013 6:26:00 PM
Description: St. Louis righthander Lance Lynn recorded 11 strikeouts Sunday in a win over Cincinnati.
Insight: The 11 K's were a season-high. He's 3-0 versus the Reds this season. Lynn's next start is Friday against the Cubs.

Cold7/25/2013 9:58:00 PM
Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn gave up one earned run on five hits over seven innings Thursday against the Phillies to improve to 12-5.
Insight: Lynn walked four and was facing a Phillies lineup without Ryan Howard and Domonic Brown, so this isn't exactly an outing that inspires supreme confidence after Lynn posted a 6.32 ERA over his last eight starts.

Cold7/14/2013 10:02:00 AM
Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn had an ugly outing Saturday against the Cubs, allowing 10 hits and five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
Insight: Just two of Lynn's last seven starts were quality. The right-hander has gone 3-3 with a 6.00 ERA in that span and watched his ERA rise from 2.76 to 3.92.

7/7/2013 8:48:00 PM
Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn fired seven innings, allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out seven in a win over the Marlins Sunday.
Insight: Lynn (11-3, 3.67 ERA) is tied with teammate Adam Wainwright with 11 wins, which ranks second in the NL. The right-hander has gone 29-10 with a 3.74 ERA and a 9.13 K/9 in 288 2/3 innings over the last two seasons.

6/15/2013 8:42:00 PM
Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn gave up seven runs on nine hits in five innings Saturday against the Marlins, but still picked up his ninth win.
Insight: That's the benefit of pitching for St. Louis. Lynn is 9-1 with a 3.56 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP, his second straight strong first half. After getting in better shape this offseason, Lynn should hold up better in the second half this year than he did in 2012.

4/20/2013 10:23:00 PM
Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn one-hit the Phillies over seven scoreless innings Saturday night to improve to 3-0. Lance walked three and struck out eight.
Insight: Lynn has given up four runs in two of his starts, but one run or less in his other two. He has a 25/10 K/BB in 22 innings.

4/9/2013 11:10:00 PM
Description: St. Louis starter Lance Lynn was roughed up in his first start but he came out and fanned 10 Reds over six innings Tuesday to pick up his first win.
Insight: Lynn allowed one run on four hits and has a 4.50 ERA through two starts. He won 18 games last season and should be a fine fantasy option again after losing some weight in the offseason.

2/8/2013 1:33:00 PM
Description: St. Louis righthander Lance Lynn was asked to come into camp lighter and ready for a full season in the starting rotation and according to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch report he is 20 pounds lighter and in better shape than a year ago.
Insight: In 2011 Lynn was primarily a reliever and was forced into a starting role last season by injuries to the Cardinals rotation. He went 18-7 in 2012, but his second-half ERA and WHIP were significantly higher than before the All-Star break. The improved fitness could turn him into a fantasy stud.

Cold10/20/2012 10:09:00 AM
Description: St. Louis righthander Lance Lynn failed to make it out of the fourth inning for the second start in a row Friday against the Giants. He let in four runs (all unearned) on four hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Insight: All of the scoring against Lynn occurred in the fourth inning, when Lynn missed shortstop Pete Kozma on what should have been a routine throw to second base. Lynn could be used as a reliever if the series goes to a winner take-all Game 7 Monday night in San Francisco.

10/18/2012 4:28:00 PM
Description: Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn will start Game 5 of the NLCS against the Giants, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Insight: Lynn was rocked in Game 1 and didn't make it out of the fourth inning but St. Louis is sticking with the same rotation even though the Giants have juggled theirs.

10/15/2012 9:45:00 AM
Description: Cardinals righty Lance Lynn didn't make it out of the fourth inning Sunday against the Giants.
Insight: He left after giving up four runs in 3 2/3 innings. In a perfect world, St. Louis would use Lynn as a reliever the rest of the way, but without Jaime Garcia, he's likely to remain in the starting rotation.

10/13/2012 5:48:00 PM
Description: Lance Lynn will get the start for St. Louis Sunday in Game 1 of the NLCS versus the Giants.
Insight: The fireballing righthander was used as a reliever during the Division Series. Lynn went 17-5 with a 3.67 ERA in 29 starts this season.

Hot9/30/2012 5:57:00 PM
Description: Cardinals starter Lance Lynn has surprisingly returned to form since rejoining the rotation on Sept. 13. After not winning a game since July 27, Lynn has won five straight decisions and four straight starts.
Insight: The Cardinals moved the struggling Lynn to the bullpen in mid-August but Jake Westbrook's injury has forced St. Louis to place him back in the rotation. He's responded by going 4-0 with a 2.19 ERA. He also picked up a win in his last appearance out of the bullpen, giving him 18 on the season.
