Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
Imagine having a player you could plug in at 2B, SS, 3B or outfield. Now imagine that this same player could post 100+ runs, steal over 50 bases and hit around .290...that's Chone Figgins between 2004 - 2006.
But how the mighty have fallen and Figgins' fantasy stock has slumped about as quickly as the current stock market.
Figgins hasn't played shortstop or outfield in 2008 limiting his availability at those positions. And you probably don't want him out there anyway, because the 2008 version of Figgins doesn't look anything like the 2005 variety.
Figgins was off to a solid start this year when he was slowed by a strained right hamstring. That's not good for a player who uses speed in his game and he has struggled since returning to the lineup. Figgins is batting just .208 for the month of July and it has brought his season's average down to .269. Worse, he has stolen just three bases in July to go along with the three he stole in June.
The outlook for the remainder of the year doesn't seem bright and not only should he not be in your starting lineup, you should probably be seeking a replacement who can give you better production.
