Description: Coyotes left wing Martin Erat scored Arizona's only goal as they lost, 4-1, to the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
Insight: Erat scored in the third period to help Arizona avoid the shutout. He has nine goals and 20 assists in 61 games this season, but his minus-16 rating makes him nearly unownable in standard leagues.
Description: Coyotes goalie Mike McKenna will start on Monday night.
Insight: This will be his first game in an Arizona uniform, with Devan Dubnyk assuming his spot atop the depth chart. McKenna will be a cheap option in daily fantasy, but is not a recommended option for owners to add off the waiver wire.
Description: Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk did not have a great statistic night, but he won again.
Insight: Dubnyk made 22 saves and allowed three goals to post a .880 save percentage, but he won his fifth straight start and seventh in eight starts since joining Minnesota. Dubnyk is a must-start right now.
Description: Coyotes forward Lauri Korpikoski scored a pair of goals on Sunday versus the Candiens.
Insight: Arizona fell behind Montreal, 2-0, but the team rallied in the second and third period. Korpikoski energized the team with a power-play goal in the second period and then scored the game-winner on the man advantage in the third period. Korpikoski has six goals and 11 assists in 46 games this season.
Description: What has gotten into Coyotes goalie Mike Smith?
Insight: OK, we shouldn't get too excited, but he has looked good in his last two games since the break. Smith posted a .929 save percentage on Tuesday and then allowed just one goal on 25 shots versus the Maple Leafs on Thursday. Unfortunately, Smith only won one of those games.
Description: Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith continued his below average season on Tuesday versus the Blackhawks.
Insight: Smith made 45 saves but also allowed six goals. Judging by the amount of work, owners can't completely blame Smith because the Arizona defense is one of the worst in the league. With a subpar goalie and bad defense, Smith should be left on the waiver wire.
Description: Goaltender Devan Dubnyk's first game with the Minnesota Wild was a good one.
Insight: Dubnyk stopped all 18 shots he faced, and the Minnesota offense exploded for seven goals to beat Buffalo, 7-0. As important as the strong goaltending was for Minnesota, the Wild's defense was much better, although the Sabres aren't exactly an offensive powerhouse. Either way, fantasy owners who rolled the dice with Dubnyk in his first start in Minnesota, are extremely pleased.
Description: Minnesota has traded a third-round draft pick for goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Arizona Coyotes.
Insight: The Wild have been really struggling on defense and in the pipes. Goalies Darcy Kuemper is hurt and Niklas Backstrom is 5-7-3 with a 3.05 GAA and .887 save percentage this season. This appears to be a win-win for Dubnyk and Minnesota. They get their goalie they want, and Dubnyk owners should see a slight tick in value for their goalie.
Description: Those fantasy owners who kept their faith after witnessing a six-goal disaster last time out were rewarded when Coyotes goalie Mike Smith allowed just one goal Thursday night against Winnipeg.
Insight: He made 34 saves, and raised his record to a still brutal 7-16-2, with a 3.46 GAA and .886 save percentage. He's certainly a better goalie than the record, so could be a buy low candidate though he shares time with Deven Dubnyk.
Description: Coyotes goalie Devan Dubnyk allowed just one goal and won in a shootout, 2-1, over the Ducks.
Insight: Dubnyk made 36 saves in regulation and overtime, then stopped all four shootout attempts he faced. Dubnyk has seen the pipes a lot lately with four starts in the past eight days, and he has gone 2-2-0 in those games.
Description: Coyotes goalie Devan Dubnyk posted a better save percentage than his opposing goalie but got the loss.
Insight: Dubnyk made 32 saves on 35 shots whereas Nicklas Backstrom had 27 saves on 30 shots, but Backstrom did better in the shootout. Dubnyk has decent numbers, 5-2-2, 2.74 GAA and .917 save percentage, as Mike Smith's backup, but what is frustrating fantasy owners is the fact he has yet to take over the starting role. Dubnyk is 0-2-1 in his last three starts which will not win him the job.
Description: Arizona goalie Devan Dubnyk had his first bad game of the season on Saturday.
Insight: Dubnyk went 5-0-1 to start this season, but on Saturday versus the Flames, he allowed three goals on 29 shots. That's not much better than the Coyotes regular starter Mike Smith, so if Dubnyk really wants to take over the goaltending job in Arizona, he will have to be better.
Description: Coyotes goalie Mike Smith blew a golden opportunity to capture a victory.
Insight: Arizona jumped out 3-0 in the first period, but slowly gave it away to the Avalanche. The game was tied by the 4:05 mark of the third period. Smith allowed a fourth goal in overtime. Smith made 31 saves on 35 shots. At least he helped the Coyotes to one point, but Smith is still just 4-11-2 this season.
Description: Coyotes winger Shane Doan recorded two points during Saturday's shootout win against the Sharks.
Insight: He had a goal and an assist, along with two shots on goal, four penalty minutes, and a +1 rating on the night. Doan has been a solid contributor this season, and now has 14 points through 21 games.
Description: Coyotes goalie Mike Smith struggled in the second and third period in the loss to the Stars on Tuesday.
Insight: Smith did not allow a goal until late in the second period, but then allowed three straight and a fourth goal, shorthanded, late in the third period as Arizona lost, 4-3. Of course, the Coyotes defense directly led to that great first period as Smith only faced six shots. He is now 4-8-0 on the season.
Description: Coyotes goalie Mike Smith made 37 saves in a, 3-2, shootout victory against the Ducks.
Insight: Anaheim outshot Arizona, 25-to-39, but behind Smith's strong goaltending, the two teams were tied at the end of overtime. Smith made one stop in the shootout, and another player missed the net as Smith won fifth game of the season.
Description: Penguins backup goalie Thomas Greiss looked poised to pickup his first victory of the season until the Red Wings scored two goals in the final three minutes of the third period.
Insight: Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall scored the late third-period goals to tie the game at 3-3. Pittsburgh had a chance to put the game "on ice" with an empty net goal, but they were unable to convert. Justin Abdelkader scored the game-winner with 46 seconds left in overtime. Greiss stopped 31-of-35 shots.
Description: Coyotes center Martin Hanzal didn't travel with the team to Minnesota due to a lower body injury.
Insight: Hanzal (15 G, 25 A last season) hasn't played more than 65 games in any of the past four season, so an injury this early in the season is disappointing, but not unexpected. He has a goal and two assists in four games this season.
Description: Arizona defenseman Keith Yandle had a big game on Tuesday night.
Insight: He had a goal and an assist, along with a +1 rating and nine shots on goal. It was Yandle's first goal of the season, and he now has six points overall. He will continue to be a solid fantasy option.
Description: Coyotes winger Shane Doan enters his 19th season and at 37-years-old isn't the 60-70 point guy he once was.
Insight: Doan can still generate 40-50 points and help his younger linemates to new heights, but you shouldn't expect too much in the way of fantasy value unless he finds the Fountain of Youth. Still, he might have value on your bench as an occasional fill-in.
Description: Coyotes left winger Mikkel Boedker begins his seventh NHL season, though he's still only 24-years-old and coming off a career-high 51 points (19 G, 32 A).
Insight: Boedker's projections are for him to plateau at this level with a 52-point season (20 G, 32). He might have a chance to go higher if Hanzal can stay healthy for a full season and Shane Doan can find some of the old magic.
Description: Coyotes center Martin Hanzal's fantasy value is limited by his inability to stay healthy.
Insight: Hanzal (15 G, 25 A) han't played more than 65 games in any of the past four season. he'll play on Arizona's top line with Mikkel Boedker and veteran Shane Doan. fantasy owners hope he stays on the ice and scores 60 points, but we're only projecting 42 this season.
Description: Fifty-point scoring defenseman like Arizona's Keith Yandle are hard to find, but fantasy owners have seen consistent production from him for the past five seasons.
Insight: Yandle posted 53 points last season (8 G, 45 A) and we like him to reach the 50-point mark for the third time in the last four full NHL seasons, but an out-of-character -23 rating last season hurt fantasy owners after being on the plus side the previous four campaigns.
Description: Coyotes center Martin Hanzal has collected just four points in his last 12 games.
Insight: Hanzal returned from a lower-body injury on March 17 after sitting out two weeks. The 27-year-old has fizzled out after a hot start (22 points in his first 23 games), recording just 17 points in his last 35 contests.
