NCAA Game Summary - Arkansas State at U-L-M

Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Ryan Aplin threw for 261 yards and a touchdown to lead the Arkansas State Red Wolves to a 24-19 win over the ULM Warhawks in Sun Belt Conference action at Malone Stadium.

Aplin competed 27-of-43 under center for Arkansas State (4-2, 2-0 SBC), but was also responsible for three interceptions. Aplin also added 35 yards on the ground during the contest, and hooked up with Dwayne Frampton for a school record 13 receptions, which included 147 yards and a score.

Kolton Browning threw for 197 yards with a touchdown and two costly interceptions in the loss for ULM (2-4, 0-1), which also got 10 catches for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns from Brent Leonard. Cody Wells started the game under center for the Warhawks, but managed just five completions for 101 yards and a score before Browing took over.

The Red Wolves took a 7-0 lead late in the opening period of play following a three-yard run by Frankie Jackson.

The Warhawks responded less than a minute later however, as Wells completed a 41-yard pass to Leonard to tie the game.

In the second quarter, a pair of 25-yard Justin Manton field goals earned the Warhawks a 13-7 lead, but a 30-yard Brian Davis field goal with under a minute remaining in the half pulled the Red Wolves to within 13-10.

The Red Wolves then took a 17-13 lead late in the third quarter, thanks to a 25-yard blocked punt return by Don Jones.

A 44-yard pass from Aplin to Frampton gave Arkansas State a 24-13 lead early in the final period of play.

The Warhawks added an 11-yard scoring toss from Browning to Leonard with just over two minutes left to play. The two-point conversion attempt failed however, and Arkansas State was able to hang on for the 24-19 win.
