NCAA Game Summary - Miami-Ohio at Bowling Green|
(Wednesday, November 10th)
Final Score: Miami-Ohio 24, Bowling Green 21
Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Trevor Cook booted a game-winning 33-yard
field goal through a thick fog at the end of regulation to give Miami-Ohio a
much-needed 24-21 victory over Bowling Green.
Zac Dysert ran for a score and completed 19-of-25 passes for 221 yards with a
touchdown to Nick Harwell, who finished with 10 catches for 125 yards as
Miami-Ohio (6-4, 5-1 MAC) stayed in contention for the MAC East crown with a
second straight win.
Willie Geter rushed for two TDs and Matt Schilz was 17-of-29 through the air
for 176 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for Bowling Green (2-8,
1-5), which was coming off a win at Central Michigan.
The game was sullied when a blinding fog rolled in during the second half, a
scene reminiscent of the infamous "Fog Bowl" between the Philadelphia Eagles
and Chicago Bears in a 1988 playoff tilt.
The RedHawks were up 21-7 following Harwell's 22-yard TD catch late in the
third quarter, but Geter recorded one- and two-yard touchdowns to tie
it in the fourth, the latter coming with seven minutes remaining in the game.
Bowling Green got the ball with 2:09 to play, but Schilz's first pass was
picked off by D.J. Brown at the BGSU 37-yard line. After a pair of first
downs, Cook was called in and split the uprights.
Thomas Merriweather fumbled in the red zone on Miami's first drive but came
back with an 18-yard score with five minutes left in the opening quarter.
Alex Bayer's 12-yard TD reception tied it early in the second quarter, but the
RedHawks went into the break up 14-7 following Dysert's one-yard plunge coming
off a turnover.
