Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Dave Shinskie threw for 214 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Boston College Eagles to a 26-13 victory over the Kent State Golden Flashes in a non-conference tussle at Alumni Stadium.

Shinskie completed 18-of-27 throws to pace Boston College (2-0), while Montel Harris gained 80 yards on the ground on 29 carries. Clyde Lee caught five passes for 54 yards and a score as well for the Eagles.

Spencer Keith threw for 201 yards with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions in the loss for Kent State (1-1), while Tyshon Goode stood as his favorite target with seven catches for 53 yards.

A 26-yard field goal from Nate Freese represented the lone score of the first quarter and gave Boston College a 3-0 lead.

The Golden Flashes responded with a field goal of their own in the second quarter, a 45-yard kick by Freddy Cortez that tied the contest at 3-3.

Freese connected from 22 yards out as time expired in the first half, giving Boston College a 6-3 halftime lead.

The Eagles took a 13-3 lead early in the third quarter following a 23-yard TD pass from Shinskie to Bobby Swigert.

The Golden Flashes responded midway through the frame with a 41-yard kick from Cortez to cut the deficit to 13-6.

Shinskie gave the Eagles a 20-6 lead just minutes later with a 31-yard toss to Lee.

Freese added successful field goals of 31 and 33 yards in the fourth quarter to push the advantage to 26-6. With just over two minutes remaining in regulation Keith combined with Dri Archer on a 32-yard TD strike for KSU, but by then it was too late as the visitors bowed in the 13-point decision.
