NCAA Game Summary - Southern California at Arizona

Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) - Marc Tyler rushed for 160 yards and a score on 31 carries, as the USC Trojans held off the 18th-ranked Arizona Wildcats, 24-21.

Matt Barkley completed 21-of-35 passes for 170 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Trojans (7-3, 4-3 Pac-10), who have won two in a row since a loss to Oregon on October 30. Barkley also carried the ball five times for 10 yards and a score.

Nick Foles connected on 32-of-48 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns for the Wildcats (7-3, 4-3), who have lost two straight since winning three in a row.

The Wildcats got the ball to start the game and marched right down the field. Alex Zendejas, however, missed a 34-yard field goal.

The Trojans' first possession of the contest resulted in a 10-play, 80-yard drive. Barkley capped the march with a one-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead with 4:13 left.

Foles fumbled the ball on Arizona's next possession, leading to Rhett Ellison's seven-yard TD catch for a 14-0 margin with 1:34 to go.

The Wildcats bridged the first and second frames with a nine-play, 80-yard drive. David Douglas ended the march with a five-yard touchdown catch for a 14-7 contest with 12:50 remaining until half.

USC responded with an impressive 17-play, 66-yard march that Tyler capped with a three-yard score for a 21-7 lead with 3:43 to go.

Travis Cobb caught a 31-yard TD pass on Arizona's next possession to cut the gap to 21-14 at the half.

The Wildcats were driving early in the third quarter when David Douglas fumbled. The Trojans capitalized with a Joe Houston 30-yard field goal to make it 24-14 with 3:35 remaining.

Douglas caught an 11-yard touchdown pass with 1:01 left in the fourth to cut the deficit to three, 24-21. It proved to be too late, as USC recovered the ensuing onside kick.

Game Notes

USC owns a 27-7 series advantage over Arizona, but the Wildcats did win last season's meeting by a 21-17 final to halt a seven-game skid to the Trojans...Douglas caught six passes for 44 yards...Terrence Miller hauled in seven passes for 116 yards for Arizona.
