Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Tyler Bray threw for 232 yards and two
touchdowns with two interceptions to lead the Tennessee Volunteers to a 24-10
victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores in SEC action.
Tauren Poole rushed for 99 yards and a score in the win for Tennessee (5-6,
Jared Funk threw for 146 yards and a touchdown with one interception in defeat
for Vanderbilt (2-9, 1-7).
The only points of the first quarter came on a 15-yard touchdown pass from
Bray to Justin Hunter.
With six minutes left in the second quarter, Bray extended Tennessee's
advantage to 14-0 with a 20-yard scoring strike to Denarius Moore.
Vanderbilt managed to cut the deficit to 14-3 when Ryan Fowler hit a 31-yard
field goal as the final seconds ticked off the first half clock.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. Just over two minutes into the
fourth quarter, Tennessee made the score 17-3 with a 28-yard Daniel Lincoln
The Commodores then made things interesting when Funk tossed a 16-yard
touchdown pass to Jordan Matthews, cutting Tennessee's edge to 17-10. But the
Vols sealed the victory with 1:22 remaining when Poole broke loose for a 28-
yard touchdown scamper.
Tennessee earned a narrow advantage in total yardage, 360-333.
