NCAA Game Summary - TCU at Air Force

(Saturday, October 10th)

Final Score: (10) TCU 20, Air Force 17

Colorado Springs, CO (Sports Network) - Joseph Turner rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown, as 10th-ranked TCU opened its Mountain West Conference schedule by holding off Air Force, 20-17, on a frigid night at Falcon Stadium.

Andy Dalton completed 16-of-28 passes for 198 yards and was picked off once for the Horned Frogs (5-0, 1-0 MWC), which has won its first five games of a season for just the third time since 1943.

Jimmy Young had six receptions for 113 yards for the Horned Frogs, who overcame temperatures in the teens to stay perfect on the season.

Connor Dietz rushed for 71 yards and a score for the Falcons (3-3, 2-1), which suffered a 16-13 overtime loss at Navy last week. Dietz also completed 6-of-17 passes for 42 yards.

A 27-yard field goal by Ross Evans moved TCU to a 20-10 lead less than two minutes into the final quarter, but Jeremy Kerley fumbled for the Horned Frogs, setting up the Falcons inside visiting territory.

Dietz ran eight yards for a score with 57 seconds remaining, but TCU recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock.

Turner scored on a one-yard run with 3 1/2 minutes left in the first quarter, and it became 14-0 with less than four minutes remaining in the second on Kerley's two-yard TD rush that capped off a 79-yard drive.

Jonathan Warzeka's 16-yard halfback option pass to Kevin Fogler for a touchdown got Air Force on the board with 1:19 left in the half.

The Horned Frogs drove inside the Air Force 10 early in the third, but Turner fumbled the ball away.

Evans booted a 38-yard field goal with nearly three minutes remaining in the third for a 17-7 cushion, but Erik Soderberg countered by splitting the uprights from 28 yards away two minutes later.
