(Saturday, September 5th)

Final Score: Connecticut 23, Ohio University 16

Athens, OH (Sports Network) - Zach Frazer threw a pair of touchdown passes to help lift the Connecticut Huskies to a 23-16 win over the Ohio University Bobcats in non-conference action at Peden Stadium.

Frazer converted 11-of-24 passing for 127 yards, but he was also guilty of three interceptions and was sacked once in the UConn (1-0) victory. Jordan Todman ran for a game-high 157 yards and a score as well.

The Bobcats (0-1) were paced by quarterbacks Boo Jackson and Theo Scott who combined to throw for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the setback at home.

The Huskies scored the first points of the evening on a four-yard TD pass from Frazer to Anthony Davis, accounting for the only scoring of the first quarter.

In the second frame Ohio struck back with a 44-yard TD pass play between Jackson and Taylor Price.

With just over a minute remaining in the first half Frazer connected with Brad Kanuch on a 35-yard scoring play to make the score 14-7 at the half in favor of the Huskies.

UConn picked up a safety in the third quarter and then built the lead to 23-7 when Todman hit the end zone on a five-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

Refusing to go away quietly, the Bobcats picked up an 11-yard touchdown pass between Scott and Riley Dunlop, but a failed two-point conversion left the score at 23-13 before Matt Weller knocked through a late 50-yard field goal for the home team.

Ohio ran the ball 32 times and gained just 61 yards on the night, compared to a hefty 259 yards rushing for the visiting Huskies.
