Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) - BJ Daniels threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns, as the South Florida Bulls claimed a 34-20 win over the turnover- prone Syracuse Orange in a Big East matchup at the Carrier Dome.

Both of Daniels' touchdown passes went to Carlton Mitchell, who finished with 139 yards on six catches. Mike Ford ran for 68 yards and two scores for USF (5-0, 1-0 Big East).

Ford got the Bulls on the board first with a 26-yard touchdown scamper midway through the first quarter.

Syracuse made it a 7-3 game on a 40-yard field goal by Ryan Lichtenstein with 1:50 remaining in the opening frame.

After the Orange defense forced a three-and-out on the ensuing possession, the offense took over and went on a 12-play, 63-yard drive, capped by Lichtenstein's 24-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 7-6 with 10:09 remaining until halftime.

The Bulls took a 14-6 lead on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Daniels to Mitchell at the 6:06 mark of the second quarter, which was set up by Jerome Murphy's interception at the Syracuse 36.

But the Bulls lost a fumble in the waning moments of the first half, and Paulus made them pay with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Williams with 29 seconds remaining until halftime.

On the first play of the second half, Daniels tossed an 85-yard touchdown pass to Mitchell to give USF a 21-13 lead.

The Bulls extended their lead to 27-13 on a five-yard touchdown run by Ford at the 4:07 mark of the third quarter.

On the third play of the ensuing drive, Bulls defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul intercepted a Paulus pass and returned it 18 yards for a touchdown to put USF in the driver's seat.

Syracuse's final touchdown came on a 29-yard pass from Paulus to Williams with 10 minutes to play.
