Vermillion, SD (SportsNetwork.com) - Karim Rowson logged 21 points and nine rebounds, as the South Dakota Coyotes took down the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons, 75-61, in a Summit League bout at the DakotaDome.
Rowson shot 3-of-3 from 3-point range and 6-of-6 at the foul line for South Dakota (8-9, 3-0 Summit), which extended its season-long winning streak to five games. Brandon Bos and Adam Thoseby netted 13 and 11 points, respectively.
For IPFW (15-6, 3-1), which had won its previous five contests, Luis Jacobo scored 19 points and Mo Evans poured in 13 off the bench.
IPFW held a one-point lead with just over seven minutes to play in the first half, but South Dakota ended the frame on a 19-8 run to take 33-23 lead at the break. Neither team shot greater than 36 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
The Coyotes improved their field goal percentage to .552 in the second half and extended their lead to as many as 21 down the stretch.
South Dakota held firm advantages in both the rebounding (39-28) and turnover (15-10) battles.
