Conway, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Warren Gillis, Michael Enanga and Josh Cameron had 13 points a piece as the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers defeated the St. Francis Brooklyn Terries, 70-59, in the mainland part of the Maui Invitational Tournament at the HTC Center.
Elijah Wilson had 10 points for Coastal Carolina (2-4). El Hadji Ndieguene had a near double-double with nine points and 14 boards.
The Terriers (2-3) were led by Jalen Cannon, who tallied 11 points. Wayne Martin paced them on the glass with six.
The Chanticleers shot an impressive 52 percent from the floor to give take a 32-28 lead going into the break. The Terriers hit on only 35.5 percent on their field goal attempts but forced nine turnovers to keep the game close.
The home team struggled to shoot the ball in the second half but making only 29.2 percent of its shots from the field. St. Francis outscored the Chanticleers, 20-10, in bench points in the second stanza, but it still fell into a deeper hole after halftime.
Although Coast Carolina turned the ball 16 times compared to 12 by the Terriers, the Chanticleers were able to outscore their opponent, 19-13, in points off turnovers.
Coastal Carolina will advance to take on Louisiana for the tournament championship
