Terps' Graham declared eligible

College Park, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Maryland will have the services of Jonathan Graham, son of former Terrapins star Ernie Graham, on its roster for the upcoming season.

The younger Graham was ruled to be eligible to play in 2013-14, thanks to the NCAA granting him a legislative release waiver on Wednesday.

"We're excited for Jonathan that he is immediately eligible for the upcoming season," said Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon. "Our administration did an outstanding job working diligently on Jonathan's behalf."

Graham, a 6-foot-8 forward, spent the past three seasons (57 games) at Penn State. The native of Baltimore posted just 1.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game last year and announced his intention to transfer, but rules dictate a player heading to another Division I program must sit out a year before returning to the court.

He was allowed to practice with his teammates, but was not allowed to play in an exhibition this past weekend until the NCAA reviewed the waiver request.

Ernie Graham played for the Terps from 1978-81 under Lefty Driesell, setting a still-standing single-game record of 44 points against North Carolina State during his first year with the program.
