Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - J.J. Moore scored 20 points as the Pittsburgh Panthers cruised by the Fordham Rams, 86-51, in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off at the Petersen Events Center.
Moore was 7-of-11 from the field, including three shots from behind the three- point while coming off the bench for Pittsburgh (2-0). Steven Adams, who was 5-of-5 shooting from the floor, added 13 points and five offensive rebounds, while Tray Woodall accounted for 12 points and five assists.
For the Rams (0-2) only two players scored in double digits, as Bryan Smith and Jeff Short both tallied 11 points.
Pitt outscored Fordham 37-18 in the first half as the Rams made a total of just six field goals and a pair of free throws.
In the second half the Panthers shot 60.6 percent from the field and while the visitors knocked down 50.0 percent of their attempts, they were limited to a total of only nine conversions.
Pittsburgh won the battle of the boards, 36-24, and also took great care of the ball with just six turnovers.
The Panthers, who will face off against the winner of the Robert Morris/Lehigh matchup in the next round, are now 93-3 at the Petersen Events Center against non-conference opponents.
