Murray State gives Prohm 1-year extension
Murray, KY (Sports Network) - Murray State men's basketball coach Steve Prohm signed a one-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season, the school announced Monday.
Prohm's rookie season as coach of the Racers was arguably the best in program history. They began the season 23-0 and were the last remaining undefeated squad in Division I before losing to Tennessee State on Feb. 9.
Murray State spent 13 consecutive weeks in the national rankings and climbed into the top-10 for the first time ever.
The Racers, a No. 6 seed, beat Colorado State in their NCAA Tournament opener but lost to third-seeded Marquette in the second game.
They finished the season with a 31-2 mark, tying the record for most wins in a single season in Ohio Valley Conference history, and were the only team in Division I to not lose a road game.
"This was an amazing season and I just want to say a special thank you for everyone's support," Prohm said. "I'm looking forward to getting back with my guys and preparing for next year."
The Racers won the Ohio Valley regular season crown as well as the conference tournament and their No. 6 seed in the NCAAs was the best in program history.
