Elon, NC (Sports Network) - Jack Isenbarger scored 24 points and Ryley Beaumont put in 20 as the Elon Phoenix defeated the UNC Greensboro Spartans 93-79 in a Southern Conference matchup at Alumni Gym.
Lucas Troutman added 18 points and Austin Hamilton chipped in 11 for Elon (14-15, 9-9 SoCon) which snapped a five game losing streak. Sebastian Koch led the Phoenix on the boards with 12 rebounds.
UNC Greensboro (12-18, 10-8) was paced by Trevis Simpson who scored 22 while Derrell Armstrong added 14 and Nick Paulos finished with 12. The Spartans have now lost three straight.
Elon was impressive in the first half shooting at a 51.6 percent clip including 6-of-11 from three point range to earn a 48-39 advantage at halftime. UNC Greensboro lagged behind converting on 44.4 percent and just 3-of-10 from beyond the arc.
The Phoenix cooled to 40.0 percent shooting in the second frame but the Spartans failed to capitalize as they fell to 38.5 percent over the final twenty minutes.
The teams were even on the boards with each team collecting 45 rebounds. The Spartans outscored the Phoenix 36-28 on points in the paint and got 34 points off the bench to just 15 from Elon's reserves.
