Youngstown, OH (Sports Network) - Chase Simon paced five teammates in double figures with 18 points as the Detroit Titans held off the Youngstown State Penguins 76-74 in a Horizon League bout at Beeghly Center.

Ray McCallum tallied 15 points and six assists for Detroit (18-13, 11-7 HL), which has won six of their last seven games. Doug Anderson, LaMarcus Lowe, and Eli Holman each scored 10 points for the Titans.

Kendrick Perry led all scorers with 22 points for Youngstown State (15-14, 10-8) while Dushawn Brooks and Blake Allen netted 13 apiece. Damian Eargle chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds for the Penguins, who have dropped three of four.

Detroit shot 50 percent from the floor and connected on 5-of-11 from three- point range in the opening stanza to take a 36-32 advantage into halftime.

Youngstown State opened the second half on a 13-6 run to take a 45-42 lead with 15:55 remaining, but Detroit answered with a 17-4 run of its own to retake the lead 59-49 with just under 10 minutes left in the game. The Penguins would not go quietly however, and a pair of Perry free-throws with 1:31 to go brought them to within one, 72-71, but they would get no closer as the Titans held on for the two-point win.

With the win, Detroit clinched the third seed in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament, while Youngstown States fell to the sixth seed.
