Auburn, AL (Sports Network) - Eric Griffin sunk 20 points in leading the Fighting Camels of Campbell over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, 97-90, in a showdown that was part of the Global Sports Hoops Showcase.
Lorne Merthie and Martell Jackson were impressive off of the bench for Campbell (1-2), scoring 17 and 15 points, respectively. Keishawn Mayes scored 14 points in the win, while Preston Dodson added 11 to go along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Middle Tennessee (1-2) was led by James Washington's 20 points. Jason Jones and Kerry Hammonds posted 12 points apiece in the loss, while James Gallman added 11.
Campbell took a 46-39 advantage into the intermission after connecting on 53.6 percent from field goal range, as well as 12 of its 13 free-throw attempts in the opening half.
The Fighting Camels exploded in the second stanza, sinking 77.3 percent of their shot attempts from the floor en route to the seven-point win.
Campbell, which recorded 23 assists, was deadly from long range as the Camels connected on eight of their 13 attempts beyond the arc on the night.
