Daytona Beach, FL (Sports Network) - Trey Hampton posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds as the Georgia State Panthers defeated the Howard Bison, 57-33, in the third round of the Glenn Wilkes Classic at the Ocean Center.
Joe Dukes added 10 points for Georgia State (2-2), while Jihad Ali chipped in with nine points and six rebounds off the bench.
Not one player finished in double-figures for Howard (0-4), as Kyle Riley finished with a team-high six points in the loss.
The Panthers were tenacious at the defensive end of the floor in the opening half, holding Howard to an abysmal 21.7 percent shooting effort, en route to a 20-13 lead at the break.
Georgia State shot a mediocre 42.4 percent from the field in the second half, but it was good enough for the Panthers to collect a 24-point win.
The Panthers dominated the play on the glass, outrebounding Howard, 44-27. The success on the boards also contributed to Georgia State's 30-12 advantage with points scored in the paint.
